【Shinjuku】This is the place to store your luggage!(Coin Locker)

01/24/2017

There are a lot of lockers in Shinjuku Station. Even people who used Shinjuku station often, we also do not know how many lockers are provided. Moreover, a lot of people are thinking this way.

“Most lockers are not open...”

However, this is only a place that is easy to see. Today, I want to focus on how to find the lockers, how to use, and which one I recommend!

For Those Who Is Intellectual Type: “Coin Locker Navi”

The coin lockers in JR station can use normally during from first to until last train. It is good for people who want to leave the baggage for long hours than luggage counters.

Where should I go in this large Shinjuku station?

In this kind of case, “Coin Locker Navi” is helpful!

If you select L・M・S, you will know which size of lockers are opened by symbols(◯・△・✕), so no need to walk around. Yes very convenient!

Do Not Need To Worry About Using Smart Phone! Searching Machine Inside The Station.

Actually, near one in each central east exit and south exit, there is an empty locker search panel is installed! As same as above, you can search without using your phone.

If you want to know the locker status, please check before you exit the station.

■How to use the coin locker

There are old type lockers that  you put the 100 coins and turn the key to lock, but recently  IC lockers has also increased, and  Suica and IC cards are replaces the key. Although, IC lockers can also accept cash!

This are the 2 different IC lockers!

If you exit JR Shinjuku West exit, you can see there is a place like mid 2nd level (the cafe with glass window) in the front.  It is hard to recognize from the ticket entrance, but the whole area there is all coin lockers.

Maybe it is because need to use a stairs to the lockers, the most lockers are available.

I recommend here  for people who want to storage the baggage somewhere from midnight to early morning.  Most of the lockers provided in the station is per day (it changed the date at 2am) , and can not able to use it during from the last train until the first train starts.  Although, this one is available for 24 hours. It will be charged every 8 hours, so it is convenient for people for a short period of time.

I feel it is comparatively opened maybe because it located outside of the station. Here,  only accept cash.

Other than that, there are lockers near by  ticket gates in the Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway Line.  Moreover, there are also few coin lockers on the street.  If you are looking for coin lockers, please check the words or a sign of  “Coin Locker!”

My favorite animal is cat, my favorite thing is travel and my favorite place is Shinjuku. I also enjoy eating and drinking. Comparing with the elegant restaurant, I prefer the small bar with red lanterns. I am not good at sports but I can run fast and always visit different places myself. I love reading so I always buy many books. The aim of year is to be a person who loves taking photos. I am living in Tokyo and studying Chinese now.
