Akihabara Radio Kaikan (Hall)
Akihabara Radio Kaikan (Hall) is a large shopping center located at the Electric Town Gate.
It opened in 1950, the Radio Kaikan reluctantly closed in 2011, but was reopened in 2014. There are many distinctive shops handling various items like, professional audio-related products that experts use, electric parts, security cameras, trading cards/figurines/plastic models, books and other gifts.
One of Radio Kaikan's attractions is the wide genre of stores, from professional stores that trace back the image of previous Akihabara as a city of home electronics, to Akiba-like stores as the city of Otaku. Especially K-BOOKS located on the 3rd and 4th floor, has a variety of Anime/Manga/game related products and you will give you the feeling of Akihabara-ness.
You will still get a sense of interest even if you just go window shopping. This hall is one of the major spots that represents the district of Akihabara, so it’s one of the go to places for most people.
