The Edo Castle
Two hundred years ago in the Edo period, there is shogun who lived in the Edo Castle, and was the virtual head of state at that time. Now, the castle does not exist, but in its site a garden called Kokyo Higashi-gyoen (The East Gardens of the Imperial Palace) has been established, anyone can freely enter.
You can actually see the still remaining ruins, such as the "Ishigaki", which corresponds to the castle walls, and the artificial pond "ohori" located on its surroundings. The total area has 20 hectare, and it is a popular location where one million people visit yearly. When visiting, you will be able to forget the bustle of the city and enjoy the traditional Japanese atmosphere.
