Nakamise Dori
Nakamise Dori path is Japan’s one of the older shopping street, which connects Kaminari-Mon gate and Senso-Ji temple.
250m stretch of path has 54 stores on East side and 35 stores on West side totalling up to 89 stores. Beautifully matched signs, seasonal decorations and gobbled path brings out the feel of Japanese-ness, where visitors can enjoy the traditional atmosphere.
Nakamise has a long history dating back to the start of Tokugawa shogunate regime, when the population boosted, and many people began visiting the temple.
It is now the biggest Asakusa’s tourist spot with shops selling Kaminari Okoshi(rice puff), Ningyo Yaki(sponge cake with red bean), and many other gifts making the area busy every day with visitors.
