EKIMISE

EKIMISE opened in 2012, linked directly to Tobu Skytree line.
It is a shopping mall based on the design concept of Asakusa station platform where people pass by. The new mall is built by refurbishing the Asakusa building that was first building to combine the station terminal and shopping mall in 1931, which was the first in Kanto region.
The name EKIMISE rhymes with Nakamise which is a symbolic area in Asakusa, and it was named with the wish to make the area busy just like in Nakamise. The construction architecture is based on the original neo renaissance from the beginning of Showa era, and the symbolic large clock was also restored.
There are 177 shops in EKIMISE, amongst which are Matsuya Asakusa that has been there since the opening of the building as well as 52 other newly opened shops and stores. Top attraction is EAST-TOKYO market WANOICHI on 7th floor.
The market focuses on the traditional crafts, selling many high quality traditional items that are made with refined craftsmanships and technologies.
