Bank of Japan Tokyo Head Office
The Bank of Japan, as the name suggests, is the central bank of the nation. Its head office is located near the Tokyo Station. Though there is a modern building built in addition now, in the center, the first head office building constructed in 1896 remains.
It is open to the public, regardless of the primary bank business, and people can tour the building. The building was built in the Neo-Baroque architectural style, which was a representative design of Japanese architecture at the time. So, the building itself is designated as a national important cultural property. It takes a public relation-like role of the Bank of Japan, and observations of the inside and English guide tours are prepared. (English guide tours are only held on Tuesdays.)
So, people from abroad can also enjoy the place. However, since it is the center of Japan's financial institution, you must make reservations in advance to participate in the tours and at the time of entrance you must present a valid photo identification.
