Japanese Sword Museum
Touken (Japanese Sword) Museum is located half-way between Sangu-Bashi Station on Odakyu line and Hatsudai Station on Keio line.
Japanese sword was the samurai’s spirit, not only was it an excellent weapon, but it was also a symbolic article for the samurai, and sometimes as an item of worship. Highly refined sword as a result of a pursuit of functionality composes superb beauty in its figure and decorations, inviting viewers to appreciate as a work of art.
Regular displays of the famous swords in the museum dates back to Heian period and Edo period. Especially the artifacts of the National Treasures and the Important Cultural Property are beaming with solemnity.
At the entrance hall, there is an introduction to Tatarabuki, an ancient iron making technique.
Special exhibitions are also held here depending on the time of the year. Why not come and experience history of Japan through beautiful art sword?
