Center gai(Basketball Street)
If you cross the big scramble crossing after leaving Shibuya station, you will come out to the best shopping street in Shibuya called,"Center Gai" or also known as, "Basketball Street."
Roughly 5000 people visit this place in every weekdays, and it will increases to 7000 people on the weekend. Mainly focusing on fashion and fast food stores, the street is packed with culture of Shibuya, simultaneously representing the young culture.
This street changed its name from Center Gai to Bastketball Street in 2011. The name represents the passion of young generation, as well as to reflect the sport that excels in internationalism, and also with the fact that the street leads to Japan’s most famous sports stadium, National Yoyogi Gymnasium. The renewed name, more people love this symbolic street.
