Statue of Hachiko
There is a statue of Hachiko, near the Shibuya station.
The statue is dedicated to Akita dog, named Hachi, which patiently waited for his master’s return. It is well known true story, made into a movie and have been remake in Hollywood. It was removed once during the World War II, but made a come back with a strong voice of the local people, showing how strongly it is loved.
Hachiko statue is now a classic rendezvous point along with Moai statue and Aogaeru (blue frog) tourist information center. Right next to Hachiko statue is the scramble crossing, which leads to Shibuya’s best shopping street, to Center Gai (Basketball street).
