The Mint Museum was opened in the refurbished Meiji architecture building, which stands within Japan Mint organisation. There are around 1000 items from coins, medals, manufacturing process of rare and precious coins. You will see many shiny coins such as a rare 20 yen coin from 1932, which was the last gold currency in the gold standards and it never circulated.
There are also coins with historical values such as a prototype coin, and Takenagashi-Kin and Kikukiri-Kinjoh which you can only take a look in the Mint Museum.
Through a kind explanation by staff at the Mint Museum, you will learn more about coins. A phone reservation is required for a factory tour. It is a chance and the valuable experience to learn the coin manufacturing process,
history, and to see medallions of each region will be worth the process. Please come and visit to expand the new knowledge!
