Asakusa Jinja Shirine
Asakusa Jinja shrine was build to protect three men of Asakusa temple founders, Hajino Matsumichi No Mikoto, Hinokuma Hanamanari and Hinokuma-no-Takenari-no-Mikoto.
The third Tokugawa Shogunate, Tokugawa Iemitsu, constructed the main building in 1649, and since then it has avoided the damage from multiple fire, wars and Kanto Major Earthquate, allowing its original form to remain till this day.
It was assigned with Important Cultural Properties in 1951. It is known to by the name of Sanja Sama, and also known for the Three Temple festivals in May, which is one of the big three Edo festivals.
The festival with many Mikoshi (potable shrine) lasts three days with 1 1/2 million visitors, and it is one of the big event in Asakusa.
