Kaminarimon Gate

Kaminari-mon gate is one the the most famous tourist spot in Asakusa, Tokyo. It is the main gate to Sensouji Temple.
The size and imposing nature of Kaminari-mon gate will attract many visitors. You will be amazing by the vermilion red gate with enormous lantern, and statues of Fujin and Raijin.
This Kaminari-mon gate is not only popular to foreign visitors, it also becoming the landmark of Japan. The official name of the gate is Fujin Raijin Mon gate, which dates back to even before 941 with written record of the existence of the gate.
On the other hand, the gate had suffered from fire damages, at one point for 100 years from 1866, there was no gate at this location. The current form of the gate is said to have started in 1960s.
