Asakusa Entertainment Hall
Asakusa Entertainment Hall is one of four regular Rakugo hall in Tokyo amongst three others. In Suzuki Rakugo Hall (Ueno), Shinjuku Suiehirotei, and Ikebukuro Rakugo Hall.
Rakugo Hall is the designated space for Rakugo comedy entertainment throughout the year, and it is often called as Yose. Since its opening in 1964, the show alternates between Rakugo Association and Rakugo Art Association at 10 day-intervals, providing continuous development of comedy in the life of Japan.
Rakugo is a form of Japanese verbal entertainment, the lone storyteller sits on Koza and tells comical story. Other than Rakugo comedy, there is Manzai (two comedians standing up and present), Mandan (comedian oneself), Conto (short story comedy sketch), magic shows, paper cutting, acrobatic entertainment, look-a-like shows, and music. The visitor can come anytime during the day and night as there are not restrictions as to when the show changes.
