WATARIUM Museum
WATARI-UM museum is a privately founded museum of contemporary art.
The architecture was designed by Mario Botta, and it was opened in September 1990.
The museum’s continuous efforts to invite world specialists to the exhibits and international references has lead to the development of exhibitions with international perspective while maximizing its location in Tokyo yet not bounded by locality. Visitors will enjoy various genres of arts from painting, carvings, photography and installations by various regional artists, all set up differently at various exhibitions.
The first and basement floors accommodate museum shop and cafe called, "ON SUNDAYS", selling many post cards and art related books. The museum organizes workshops and lectures besides exhibitions.
While the normal opening hours are from 11:00 to 19:00, the late opening on Wednesdays, which closes at 21:00, will allow opportunities for busy visitors to enjoy the exhibitions.
