Taro Okamoto Memorial Museum
Taro Okamoto Memorial Museum is build at a home and studio of a leading Japanese artist, Taro Okamoto.
Taro Okamoto lived and produced many works of art here from 1954 until he died at the age of 84, in 1996. His famous production such as monuments and paintings including Tower of the Sun were constructed and sculpted at this very location.
The original studio and the garden are preserved as they were before along with a large collection of sketches, sculptures and part of original records, which are displayed for viewing. Many sculptures are placed around the studio and in the garden creating attractive atmosphere for everyone who is seeing the art for the first time or the people who have seen them before.
There is a cafe at the first floor of the newly refurbished space of the museum, and exhibition space on the second floor, where special exhibition and workshops take place.
Opening hours are from 10:00 to 18:00 with the last admission at 17:30. Please remember that they are closed on Tuesdays.
