Jingu Baseball Stadium
Jingu Baseball Stadium is an outdoor baseball stadium located at Meiji Jingu Gaien park.
Tokyo BIG6 Baseball League was set up in 1925 when Waseda-Keio Baseball game was held again after 19 years and reinvigorated Japanese baseball fever. Initially, the games were organized within each university’s baseball ground.
In the following year, Jingu Baseball Stadium was built to accommodate the increased number of spectators as the popularity increased. The stadium experienced air raids during the war, but the baseball games were reorganized soon after the war.
Post-war stadium saw changes in the game from BIG6 university games to professional leagues, and it is now a home ground of Tokyo Yakult Swallows. Jingu Annual Baseball Tournament, which started in 1970, still continues now, attracting many baseball fans each year to spectate both university tournament and high school tournament.
